chaska food shelf

Our Mission
"To glorify God by providing food to
those in need in our community."

The Chaska Food Shelf is a ministry of Cross of Grace Church. As our mission states, we are focused on providing food for those in need in our community. We partner with other churches, charities, businesses, civic organizations and individuals who generously give of their time and money in order to reach out to those who are in need.

Upcoming Dates

Spiritual Aspect:
Our ultimate goal as a ministry is to bring God glory by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will be conversational with our clients without being invasive. There will be no spiritual requirements to get food - all who need food will get it. However, we will make ourselves available to pray, counsel, and care for the spiritual as well as the physical needs of our clients.

Guidelines for Getting Food
Visitors to the Food Shelf are required to provide proof of residence in the Chaska community.  We collect some basic information for our records, but do not require proof of need.  We are open two Saturday mornings per month from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Every family will receive 2 bags of essential items and other items as available.

We rely on the generosity of individuals, churches, businesses, schools and civic organizations for our operations.  Cash donations of any amount are appreciated.  We participate with Second Harvest Heartland where every dollar purchases about $9 in food so funds are well utilized.  Checks may be mailed to:

Chaska Food Shelf
2470 Chaska Boulevard
Chaska, MN  55318

Non-perishable food items are always appreciated and may be dropped off on the second and fourth Thursdays between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Needed items include any type of canned fruit or vegetables, baking items, cereal, pancake mix and syrup, dry goods including beans, rice, potatoes, paper products, coffee, tea or juice, peanut butter, jelly, honey, canned meats and snack items.

Individuals, civic groups, churches, and youth groups may either choose to volunteer at the food shelf or organize fund raisers.  We utilize volunteers on Thursday evenings to pre-bag groceries or on Saturday mornings to help fill and weigh orders.  Just send an e-mail or call us and we will get you on a schedule.  You may volunteer on a one time basis or get on a rotation.
