The Closing of The Chaska Food Shelf
The original reason we opened the CFS back in 2008 was two-fold: 1) to serve our community impacted in a downed economy by providing food to those in need, and 2) to have an opportunity to share the gospel and minister the grace of God to the lost.
Over the years, there has been much good done in both of these areas. Many clients have been served with food, and many spiritual needs have been addressed. Yet, as with any benevolence ministry, the need being met must be an indicator of whether that particular ministry continues. It has become apparent through a decreasing number of new clients, a tapped volunteer pool, limited resources, and the effectiveness of other charities providing food in Chaska, that at this time, it seems unwise to try to continue CFS. Therefore, we will be closing the food shelf following our last opening on August 23rd.
We want to thank all the volunteers who tirelessly gave of their time, the generous donors of food and money that made this outreach possible, and the Chaska community who embraced the food shelf from the beginning.

August 23, 2014 - Final opening date
The Chaska Food Shelf is a ministry of Cross of Grace Church. As our mission states, we are focused on providing food for those in need in our community. We partner with other churches, charities, businesses, civic organizations and individuals who generously give of their time and money in order to reach out to those who are in need.
Our ultimate goal as a ministry is to bring God glory by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will be conversational with our clients without being invasive. There will be no spiritual requirements to get food - all who need food will get it. However, we will make ourselves available to pray, counsel, and care for the spiritual as well as the physical needs of our clients.
Guidelines for Getting Food
Visitors to the Food Shelf are required to provide proof of residence in the Chaska community. We collect some basic information for our records, but do not require proof of need. We are open two Saturday mornings per month from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Every family will receive 2 bags of essential items and other items as available.
